Car Spins Out After Vapor From Winthrop Ethanol Plant Freezes On Highway

WINTHROP – Vapor from an ethanol plant is said to have caused a two vehicle crash Thursday morning on Highway 19 east of Winthrop.

A car driven-by 63-year-old Barbara Bertrand of Sleepy Eye spun out on an icy patch due to vapor that froze on the road.

Her car and a semi driven-by 85-year-old Marion Woods of Winthrop collided.

The State Patrol say the vapor cloud from the ethanol plant also hampered visibility.

Both were treated and released.
